Jeff Bezos is the founder of Amazon. He's also an investor and a philanthropist. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 12th, 1964 to his mother Jackie Gise, and father Ted Jorgensen. He attended Princeton University where he graduated with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science before moving to New York City to work at a hedge fund. Jeff Bezos is not only one of the richest men in the world, but he also revolutionized how we shop and purchase items. He has always been an entrepreneur at heart, with his first business venture being a summer lawn-mowing service when he was 12 years old. He even tried to sell Christmas cards door-to-door before realizing that it would be more lucrative if he sold them on commission for himself and other local artists as opposed to selling them by the dozen. But what really propelled Bezos into becoming a household name? The Amazon company! In 1994, after reading about the rapid growth of e-commerce over the past decade, Jeff decided to start an online bookstore that came out of his garage in Seattle.
