President Barack Obama is a man of many accomplishments. He was the 44th president and served from 2009-2017; he's also the first African American to serve as Commander in Chief. But who is this man? The youngest of four children, he grew up in Hawaii with his grandparents while his mother pursued her graduate degree at the University of Hawai'i. His father left when he was two years old, and they were never reunited. His grandfather instilled an appreciation for education that has followed him throughout his life, even through college, where he majored in political science and graduated with honors from Columbia University before attending Harvard Law School.
He met his wife Michelle Robinson during law school and married her after graduating in 1990.
